B-1 Visas

For foreign nationals entering the U.S. temporarily for business activities. Not authorized for productive employment.

Eligibility:

• Must maintain a foreign residence and intend to return at the end of the stay.
• Cannot receive compensation from a U.S. source, except for reimbursement of incidental expenses.

Application Process & Duration:

• Applications are made directly at a U.S. consulate or embassy.
• Initial stay up to 6 months, but typically granted for 30 to 90 days.
• Extensions may be requested for up to 6 additional months if justified, filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) from within the U.S.

(Note: Prolonged stays may lead to a presumption of prohibited productive employment.)
