
There are 50,000 diversity visas available annually, drawn from random selection among entries of individuals who are from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S.
Application Process:
- Entry Registration:Apply online through the U.S. Department of State (DOS) during the registration period, which usually runs from October to December each year.
- Selection: Winners are selected randomly from the pool of qualified applicants
Eligibility:
Country of Origin:You must be from a country with low immigration rates to the U.S.
*Citizens of countries with high immigration rates are not eligible to apply.
Education/Work Experience: You must meet one of the following criteria:
- Have a high school education or its equivalent.
- Have at least two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience.
Notification & Visa Issuance:
- Notification:Winners are notified by mail. If selected, you must complete further visa application procedures.
- Visa Granting:If you meet all requirements and pass the necessary checks, you will be granted a diversity visa.
Important Notes:
- Application Portal:You can only apply through the DOS website. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) does not handle the diversity visa lottery.
- Ineligibility:Some countries are not eligible to participate in the lottery. This list can change each year based on immigration statistics.
